Responsibilities
- Maintains professional behavior and prioritizes work flow to ensure completion of all assigned duties, while adhering to policies and procedures and promoting patient safety and confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse, such as assisting with patient care in different units and participating in the orientation of new staff members.
- How you make a difference The Certified Nursing Assistant performs basic and specialized nursing care functions under the supervision of licensed nurses.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.
- Licenses/Certifications Current certification in the state of practice is required.

- The Nursing Assistant collaborates with other healthcare team members and correctional officers to plan and implement patient care activities in a correctional setting.
- After a general orientation to medical-surgical and psychiatric patient care areas, they may also float between units to ensure adequate nursing staff for patient care areas.
- Collaborates with other members of the health care team, participates in staff meetings and training sessions, and notifies the licensed nurse of any patient concerns or issues.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of nursing procedures and proficiently uses medical supplies and equipment, while also ensuring their proper storage and cleaning.
