About the role

  • This role is based on-site in San Francisco, CA.
  • Help improve the reliability and usefulness of the team's physical testing infrastructure
  • Can move quickly from concept to physical prototype

Responsibilities

  • As a Test Mechanical Designer at Droyd, you will design and build test stands, fixtures, and supporting hardware for robot evaluation.
  • This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys practical mechanical design and rapid iteration in support of testing.
  • Design test stands, fixtures, and supporting hardware for robot evaluation
  • Build and iterate on physical setups for end effector, motor, and system testing
  • Build practical hardware for internal use with fast turnaround
  • Work closely with test technicians and engineers to support repeatable test workflows
  • We design and manufacture our hardware in-house, which means iteration, fabrication, and execution all happen under one roof.
  • Fast hardware progress depends on good test infrastructure, not just good product design.
  • Have strong hands-on mechanical design ability
  • Are comfortable building practical hardware for internal use

Requirements

  • Have strong experience with T-slot aluminum extrusion for building test stands and fixtures

Nice to have

  • Experience with robotics, fixtures, tooling, or test infrastructure
  • Experience with CAD and rapid prototyping workflows
  • Experience supporting validation or R&D teams
  • If we do this right, robots stop being demos and start being infrastructure.

Compensation

  • $100K-$140K base salary, plus equity
