About the role
- This role is based on-site in San Francisco, CA.
- Help improve the reliability and usefulness of the team's physical testing infrastructure
- Can move quickly from concept to physical prototype
Responsibilities
- As a Test Mechanical Designer at Droyd, you will design and build test stands, fixtures, and supporting hardware for robot evaluation.
- This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys practical mechanical design and rapid iteration in support of testing.
- Design test stands, fixtures, and supporting hardware for robot evaluation
- Build and iterate on physical setups for end effector, motor, and system testing
- Build practical hardware for internal use with fast turnaround
- Work closely with test technicians and engineers to support repeatable test workflows
- We design and manufacture our hardware in-house, which means iteration, fabrication, and execution all happen under one roof.
- Fast hardware progress depends on good test infrastructure, not just good product design.
- Have strong hands-on mechanical design ability
- Are comfortable building practical hardware for internal use
Requirements
- Have strong experience with T-slot aluminum extrusion for building test stands and fixtures
Nice to have
- Experience with robotics, fixtures, tooling, or test infrastructure
- Experience with CAD and rapid prototyping workflows
- Experience supporting validation or R&D teams
- If we do this right, robots stop being demos and start being infrastructure.
Compensation
- $100K-$140K base salary, plus equity
