About the role
- Software Engineer II - Network Test Engineer
- HPE Networking is a leader in AI-driven, next-generation networking solutions that power modern data centers, cloud, campus, branch, and service provider networks.
- We are seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our Networking & IP Services team.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Management, Software Engineering, and Hardware teams to review product requirements and technical designs.
- Develop comprehensive functional, system, and regression test plans for networking software and platforms.
- Execute manual and automated test cases to validate functionality, scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Python
- Identify, reproduce, troubleshoot, and document software and hardware defects.
- Partner with development teams to isolate root causes and verify fixes.
- Validate Layer 2/Layer 3 networking features, routing protocols, and network services.
- Perform hardware qualification and validation testing for new networking platforms.
- You will develop test strategies, automate complex networking test scenarios, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and help deliver high-quality networking products.
- Any reliance on fraudulent communication is at the individual's own risk, and HPE disclaims legal liability for any resulting damages.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of software testing experience, or Master's degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience with Python for test automation.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable:
- 2+ years of software testing experience in networking, IP services, or network operating systems.
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies, including:
- Quality of Service (QoS)
- Class of Service (CoS)
- OpenConfig Telemetry
- P4 Runtime (P4RT)
- Firewall technologies
Skills
- Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation
- USD 108,500 - 218,500 in California
- The listed salary range reflects base salary.
