About the role
- This is a long-term, full-time, on-site position located in the Central Valley region of California.
- Note: This position requires 100% travel to field sites within the designated area.
Responsibilities
- Review and develop inspection and testing reports, material certifications, placement records, and quality control documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Document inspection findings, deficiencies, field observations, and project progress through photographs and electronic reporting systems.
- Support punch list development, substantial completion inspections, final acceptance documentation, and record verification during project closeout.
- Collaborative mindset that builds trust and effective working relationships with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.

Requirements
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with California law and have the ability to travel to and between active construction sites.
- 5+ years of bridge, guideway, railroad, or heavy civil construction inspection experience.
- Experience performing construction inspections and documenting field activities through detailed inspection records and reports.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, construction specifications, and inspection procedures.
- Knowledge of quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) principles and construction inspection practices.
- Knowledge of construction safety, traffic control, and environmental compliance requirements applicable to active rail and highway construction sites.
- Experience with industry standard project and construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, TILOS, Procore, Unifier, FieldManager, or similar platforms).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively in active construction environments and adapt to shifting project priorities.

Nice to have
- Master's degree in civil engineering, construction management, and engineering technology.
- 10+ years of bridge, guideway, or railroad construction inspection experience on large transportation infrastructure programs.
- Familiarity or proficiency with Microsoft Power BI or other dashboard KPI reporting software.

Compensation
- Expected Salary: $120k-$190k/year ($57-$91/hour).
- Luster provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidate's level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc.
