About the role
- Market Operations Specialist - Options Location: New York, NY (3 days per week onsite) About IEX: IEX (IEX Group, Inc.) is an exchange operator and technology company dedicated to innovating for performance in capital markets.
- The Market Operations Team: IEX is looking for a driven, motivated candidate to join our Market Operations desk.
- This position is best suited for a highly collaborative, team-oriented individual who is passionate about working with technology, trading systems, and data.
Responsibilities
- Execute and maintain daily operational procedures
- Develop expertise with IEX systems, market functionality, order types and external interfaces
- Design, build, and maintain automation scripts owned by the Market Operations team
- Perform data analysis to support troubleshooting client issues, improving operational efficiency, and managing risk
- Perform Obvious Error Reviews for Members that notify the desk of possible trading errors
- Collaborate with internal teams at IEX - including Technology Operations, Product Management, Business Development, Business Analytics, Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Regulation
Requirements
- You will demonstrate the composure and aptitude required to work effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure trading environment.
- Python programming experience - You've thrown some scripts together to automate things you don't need to spend your time on.
- You get annoyed at manual processes that can be easily automated and do what you can to prevent yourself from being a human keyboard.
- Familiarity with a versioning system like Git
- Knowledge of micro-market structure, order types, and order book behavior
- Conduct testing with members in test facility environment when required and to assist in executing requests as needed
Nice to have
- 5+ years of operational experience on a trading / operations desk
- Strong knowledge of electronic trading, trading systems, and options market structure a plus
- Interested in picking up Python programming and automation skills
- Ability to acquire applicable certifications within 90 days of hiring

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Superlative attention to detail
- Strong knowledge in exchange technology and desire to continually grow skills in this area
- Open-minded and able to quickly acquire new concepts and ideas, as well as contribute to development and discussion of said ideas
- Self-motivated and comfortable with independently driven work
- Availability and commitment to accommodate a flexible work schedule and an on-call environment
Compensation
- The starting annual base pay is between $120,000 and $150,000 for this NY-based position.
