About the role
- The Safety Specialist works to ensure that all employees complete their work safely.
- The Safety Specialist also monitors working conditions and resolve any safety issues that may arise.
- The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is eager to grow their career in EHS.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily
- Ensures investigation of all HSE related incidents utilizing specific tools to drive to root cause and identify actions to prevent recurrence.
- Drives implementation and completion of corrective actions, including corrective actions developed from other site incidents
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to drive key plant safety initiatives
- Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
Requirements
- Proven ability to interact and provide insight and influence at all levels of the organization in leading and encouraging company initiatives and work practices
- Expertise with Microsoft Suite and auditor safety software
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and plant leadership
- Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback
- Demonstrated ability to deal with abstract and concrete variables
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments without climate-control.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in safety, manufacturing/logistics or engineering a plus
- 3+ years' experience in safety, operations or related experience preferred
- Safety Certification (OHST/CHST etc.) strongly preferred

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presenting abilities
