About the role

  • Responsible for the implementation and delivery of the company's Environmental, Health and Safety systems for the Muncie Facility.
  • The Safety Specialist is pivotal in ensuring compliance to relevant legislation and codes of practices, taking proactive and reactive actions to ensure the business is compliant at all times.
  • Responsible for implementation and supervision over Global EHS Standards on local level as well as the Safety KPI, EHS Action plan and others relevant to EHS standards throughout the company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement risk assessments.
  • Continually review, update and maintain EHS documentation and management systems, including training records, training materials, policies and procedures, operating manuals and other relevant documentation specific to the Olyphant site.

Requirements

  • Liaise with environmental authorities and inspections as required.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of local systems, including performing internal audits as required.
  • Ensure an effective contractor safety program is developed, executed, and updated when required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management (or related/similar field) and/or significant experience in a related/similar field.
  • Ability to understand conversational speaking
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - per safety guidelines
  • Ability to work in an environment that can become very hot (temperature) depending on the weather.

Compensation

  • Set up and maintain minutes for a joint hourly/salary health and safety committee.
