About the role
- Zillow Group is looking for a high-impact Tax Senior to join a fast-paced environment where you'll balance a high volume of recurring compliance work while staying nimble enough to take on new challenges as the business evolves.
- The ideal candidate is technically sharp, takes accountability for their work, and is intellectually curious about an ever-changing tax landscape.
- You'll also play an active role in identifying and driving improvements to the processes, controls, and systems that keep the compliance function running efficiently and at scale.
Responsibilities
- Manage exemption certificate preparation and maintenance
- Track and maintain indirect tax filing calendars and registrations across jurisdictions
- Assist in data collection and research support
- Maintain and enhance internal tax controls and policy documentation
- We partner closely with teams across Finance as well as external advisors to support strong financial reporting, thoughtful process improvements, and a high standard of operational excellence.
- Partner with internal departments to gather and validate data needed for indirect tax compliance requirements
Requirements
- 3-5 years indirect tax work experience, public accounting or corporate in-house
- Strong understanding of U.S. sales/use tax, B&O, and other transaction-based taxes
- Strong proficiency with Avalara tax engine
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, required
- Ability to research multi-jurisdictional tax issues, interpret guidance, and translate findings into actionable recommendations

- RIA Checkpoint and BNA research platforms, a plus
- CPA or LLM, a plus
Compensation
- In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $90,900.00 - $145,100.00 annually.
- The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.
