About the role
- Within a highly collaborative environment, the Communications and Social Media Manager is responsible for telling the story of the university through compelling writing, strategic social media management, and engaging visual content.
- The role plays a key part in elevating the university's voice by integrating storytelling, social media, and visual communications into a cohesive communications strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute short- and long-term social media strategies aligned with institutional goals, brand positioning, and reputation management.
- Manage and grow institutional social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive social media content calendar.
- Design graphics and visual assets for social media, websites, email marketing, presentations, publications, and campus initiatives.
- Capture and edit photography and video content to support university communications and marketing efforts.
- Track, analyze, and report on social media performance; develop KPI dashboards and provide actionable insights.
- Provide training and guidance to faculty and staff to support effective social media use across the university.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, and at least one year of marketing, communications, or related experience with social media management.
- In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, audiences, and analytics.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with digital content creation.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other relevant applications used for graphic design, photo editing, and content production.
- Knowledge of AP Style.

- Produce and publish engaging social media content, including copy, graphics, photography, short-form video, and multimedia storytelling.
- Write marketing copy for digital, print, and promotional materials.
- Cover campus events and initiatives, producing real-time and feature content for multiple platforms.
- Monitor social media trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve strategy and execution.
- Manage social media takeovers and community engagement initiatives.
- Ensure all content is accurate, timely, visually engaging, and aligned with institutional messaging and brand standards.
