About the role
- firmware development, prototyping, debugging, coordinating with vendors, and interfacing with manufacturing organizations will be key to success in this role.
- In this role, you will work in a fast-paced environment that values hands-on problem solving, rapid iteration, and continuous improvement through the evaluation of new technologies and tools.
Responsibilities
- Design, schematic capture, and prototype microcontroller and microprocessor-based products
- Design and develop complex embedded systems involving mixed-signal design, high-speed interfaces, and integration across hardware and firmware domains
- Develop or support firmware and/or FPGA designs
- Lead board bring-up, debugging, and root cause analysis of hardware issues, with the ability to independently drive issues to resolution
- Test and verify new designs
- Lead or support transition of designs into production
- Contribute to identification of emerging technologies and support technical direction within assigned projects
- Design to and support qualification of products to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, FCC, and CE
- Create and execute test plans for hardware and software validation
- Design and implement test fixtures to verify circuit board and system functionality for production testing
Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, schematic capture, layout, and board bring-up, with demonstrated progression in ownership and technical responsibility
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including engineers, lab technicians, product management, and manufacturing
- Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization

Nice to have
- Experience with EE design tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics)
- Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx, Microsemi, Intel/Altera)
- Experience with smart card, RFID, NFC, printing, or motion control systems
- 7+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, schematic capture, layout, and board bring-up
- Working knowledge of project management concepts (timelines, costs, requirements, resources)
- Where you will be: Minneapolis, MN, working in‑office Monday through Friday.

Compensation
- The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $96,797-$141,969 per year (in the primary posting location).
- Actual compensation will be determined based on geographic location, education, skills and experience.
- This position is also eligible for the company's discretionary annual incentive plan.
- Note: Benefit and Compensation programs are subject to eligibility requirements and other terms of the applicable plan or program.
