About the role
- This role sets daily priorities, ensures safe and efficient operations, and serves as the first point of contact for workflow, quality, and safety concerns.
- The ideal candidate will have welding experience; however, candidates with machine shop or first-entry manufacturing experience may also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain HSE compliance, including proper use of PPE and adherence to safety policies.
- Support training and onboarding of new employees; mentor less experienced team members.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to work in a shop environment with exposure to welding fumes, noise, and industrial equipment.
- Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks associated with fabrication and welding.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in welding, fabrication, machine shop operations, or first-entry manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and welding symbols.
- Prior experience in a lead, acting lead, or informal supervisory role preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to lead by example.
- Basic computer skills for production tracking and reporting.
- Mental and Physical Requirements:
- Must demonstrate leadership, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- 3+ years of manufacturing experience required
- welding experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles preferred.
- Experience with Solomon or similar ERP systems is a plus.
Skills
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with quality standards, drawings, and welding procedures.
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and communicate issues or needs to supervision.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of equipment, tools, and processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives.
- Provide input on employee performance and escalate attendance, performance, or conduct issues as needed.
