About the role
- Mid-Level Test & Evaluation Engineer Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) team is seeking an Experienced Metrology Test & Evaluation Engineer to join our team in Patuxent River, MD.
- You will tackle new and challenging problems every day.
- Metrology is the science of measurement and includes all theoretical and practical aspects of measurement.
Responsibilities
- Develops solutions to calibration systems problems of moderate scope and impact
- Assists with the design of calibration systems
- Develops project plans using the principles of project management and performance goals
- Support maintenance of the calibration system
- Supports maintenance of reference standards traceability, calibration procedures and software
Requirements
- This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship
- Experience with dimensional, force, mass, pressure, linear measurements, temperature, vacuum, and/or other physical metrology processes
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
- To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
- An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

- Experience in Project Management and/or technical integration
- Quality standards familiarity - Boeing QMS, AS9100 and other applicable standards

Compensation
- $119,850 - $162,150

- As a Metrology engineer you will have an important and exciting role in the company that could include engaging with the factory and other engineers, working with large-volume advanced manufacturing machines, engaging with outside vendors of test equipment, designing and building test fixtures, programming software, and developing procedures to test new equipment.
- Metrology engineering covers the basic understanding of how measurement accuracy and precision impacts our ability to make repeatable and reproducible measurements throughout Boeing, basic understanding of the importance of measurement traceability and the role calibration plays in establishing traceability, and the quality systems that support these processes.
- Include:
- Makes routine contacts with customers
- Utilizes appropriate tools, processes and procedures
- Aids in the development of data processing tools and algorithms
- Authors calibration procedures and conducts measurement uncertainty evaluations
- Calibration data analysis. Conducts calibration data validity using established Metrology practices and procedures
