About the role

Initial rank will be consistent with qualifications and experience.
PhD in Portuguese, Comparative Literature, or a related field will be considered if the candidate can fulfill the duties/expectations of the position.

All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
All faculty are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience teaching Spanish courses at the university level.
Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English is also required.
The ability to teach Portuguese literature/culture classes is also highly valued although not required.

This professional-track teaching position has a course-load of 4-3-2 (27 credit-hours per year).
Teaching faculty teach nine courses per year (27 credit hours).

It is anticipated that they will participate in academic conferences and workshops (at BYU and at other venues), sharing and learning best practices in teaching Spanish language, literature, and culture.
