About the role

  • The Relay Technician will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting protective relay systems and related electrical equipment at the client's site in Albian.
  • This role follows a 7 days on/7 days off shift rotation.

Responsibilities

  • candidates are responsible for their own travel to Calgary or Edmonton.
  • Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain protective relays, controls, and associated electrical systems.
  • Perform relay calibration, functional testing, commissioning support, and power system troubleshooting.
  • Support planned maintenance, outage work, commissioning, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Eligible travel costs are covered from Calgary or Edmonton to the client site; candidates are responsible for their own travel to Calgary or Edmonton.

  • We are currently seeking a Relay Technician to support a client site in Albian (Northern Alberta) on a full-time, 1-year term assignment.
  • This role will be embedded onsite at the client location and will support protection, control, relay testing, troubleshooting, and electrical power system maintenance activities.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, PPE, and work areas in a clean, safe, and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in industrial, utility, oil and gas, mining, or heavy industrial electrical environments.
  • Ability to work a 7/7 rotation at a client site in Albian, Alberta for the duration of the 1-year term.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet site access, pre-employment, drug and alcohol, and fit-for-duty requirements.
  • This position requires strong technical knowledge of protection and control systems, safe work practices, and the ability to work effectively in an industrial site environment.
  • Electrical, instrumentation, power systems, or protection and control background required.
  • The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a safety-sensitive environment and complying with all site access, PPE, and safety requirements.

  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout, test procedures, and field documentation requirements.

  • Experience testing and troubleshooting protective relays, control circuits, switchgear, breakers, transformers, and power distribution equipment.
  • NETA certification, PSE, Electrical Engineering Technology diploma, Journeyperson Electrician ticket, or related technical certification is considered an asset.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while embedded at a client location.
  • Shift, Travel, and Work Location This is a full-time, 1-year term position embedded at a client site in Albian, Alberta.

  • Travel to site will be coordinated from either Calgary or Edmonton.
