About the role

Responsibilities

  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, FP&A, HR, and other teams to drive IPO readiness and execute on financial reporting milestones.
  • Own all financial reporting, including lender reporting Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team over time while establishing scalable processes and controls.
  • Drive adoption and implementation of new accounting standards and internal policies as the company matures.
  • Support SOX readiness, including documentation and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to finance teams and other departments within the organization.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the organization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of total accounting experience with increasing responsibility, including SEC reporting experience at a public company.

Nice to have

  • CPA required, with strong foundational training - Big 4 public accounting experience on public companies highly preferred.
  • Experience with tools like Workiva, NetSuite, FloQast, or similar is a plus.

  • The Director of Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting will lead all aspects of technical accounting and external reporting, serve as a trusted advisor on complex accounting matters, and drive IPO readiness.
  • This is a unique opportunity for someone who can operate at a strategic level while also taking ownership as an individual contributor - drafting memos, preparing filings, and building foundational processes from the ground up.
  • Prepare and review SEC filings, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, and the S-1, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Be a hands-on operator - personally draft technical memos, reporting schedules, and key disclosures, especially in the near term.
  • Interface directly with external auditors, with full ownership over technical accounting matters and financial statements and disclosures.
  • Oversee the research and implementation of new accounting standards and ensure proper documentation and communication of their impact to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor regulatory and industry developments, assessing their impact on the company and advising management on appropriate actions.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, providing technical accounting expertise and strategic insights.
