About the role
- The Commodity Manager is responsible for overseeing the sourcing and procurement of materials and components within a specific commodity category, ensuring cost-effective and efficient supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
- Commodity Sourcing and Procurement: Lead sourcing and procurement activities for assigned commodity groups, including raw materials, components, or services.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply chains.
- Cost Management and Optimization: Develop and implement cost-saving strategies and continuous improvement programs. Negotiate prices, contracts, and terms with suppliers to optimize cost structures while maintaining quality standards.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, high-quality standards, and continuous improvement in performance.
- Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage risks within the supply chain, including supply disruptions, price volatility, and supplier reliability. Develop contingency plans to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions.
- Compliance and Sustainability: Ensure that all procurement activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and sustainability objectives. Support initiatives related to ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or commodity management, ideally in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier relationship management and contract negotiations.
- In-depth knowledge of commodity markets, pricing, and global sourcing strategies.
- Proficiency with supply chain management software (ERP, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Experience in strategic sourcing and category management.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with global supply chain logistics and trade regulations.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional standing and walking within the office
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree or certifications like CPSM, APICS, or CPIM preferred).
