About the role

  • The Agency Underwriting Assistant, assists underwriters by entering submissions and information into rating software, prepares accounts, reviews, and processes endorsements and/or handles renewal underwriting activity.
  • This position will be with Pacific Gateway Insurance Agency in Valencia, CA and is eligible for Hybrid work.

Company info

  • Identify, review, and classify risks; enter risks into rating software as applicable
  • Order, review, and evaluate inspection reports, MVRs, loss runs, audits, and other underwriting data
  • Process endorsements, calculate additional and return premiums, and issue binders, new business, and renewal policies
  • Enter and verify submissions in AMS; request, review, and validate updated exposure information from agents
  • Communicate with Underwriters and Agents to provide quotes, obtain supplemental information, and ensure required documentation is received
  • High school diploma or GED with two years of college or equivalent work experience
  • One or more years of relevant work experience
  • Basic math and rating knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and related PC software)
  • Strong understanding of insurance terminology and policy coverages
  • Ability to apply company guidelines related to risk acceptability and profitability
  • Knowledge of company and departmental practices and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with accuracy
