About the role

- The Agency Underwriting Assistant, assists underwriters by entering submissions and information into rating software, prepares accounts, reviews, and processes endorsements and/or handles renewal underwriting activity.
- This position will be with Pacific Gateway Insurance Agency in Valencia, CA and is eligible for Hybrid work.

- Identify, review, and classify risks; enter risks into rating software as applicable
- Order, review, and evaluate inspection reports, MVRs, loss runs, audits, and other underwriting data
- Process endorsements, calculate additional and return premiums, and issue binders, new business, and renewal policies
- Enter and verify submissions in AMS; request, review, and validate updated exposure information from agents
- Communicate with Underwriters and Agents to provide quotes, obtain supplemental information, and ensure required documentation is received
- High school diploma or GED with two years of college or equivalent work experience
- One or more years of relevant work experience
- Basic math and rating knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and related PC software)
- Strong understanding of insurance terminology and policy coverages
- Ability to apply company guidelines related to risk acceptability and profitability
- Knowledge of company and departmental practices and procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with accuracy
