This job works hand in hand with the specialty pharmacy team members, referring doctors, nursing staff, and care coordinators by completing prior authorizations on behalf of the prescriber.
Works directly with patients to determine eligibility for medication and financial assistance programs.

Ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
Maintains documentation relative to the job.
Performs all job duties in accordance with Ochsner Specialty Pharmacy policies and accrediting bodies.

Required - High School diploma or equivalent
2 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Required - Current Pharmacy Technician Certificate issued by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Negotiation skills to assist the patient in navigation of the health care system.
Assumes responsibility for professional development and continued education.

Communicates and acts as liaison between insurance company, patients, providers, and specialty pharmacy team.
