About the role
- The Power Engineer in the Electrical Safety Engineering Division is responsible for applying advanced electrical engineering principles to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of power systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, analyze, and troubleshoot protection schemes, including overcurrent protection, distance relays, and generator/motor protection systems.
- Perform power system safety analysis, including load flow and short-circuit studies (approximately 30% of time).
- Develop, expand, and execute quality assurance (QA) test procedures in alignment with company standards, including identifying, documenting, and validating software issues (approximately 30% of time).
- Utilize engineering tools such as MATLAB®, Simulink®, Mathcad, and power system analysis software to support analysis and testing activities (approximately 10% of time).
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support project development and execution.

Requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and validate test procedures.
Skills
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering concepts, particularly in power systems protection and coordination.
- Familiarity with relay testing and implementation of protection schemes.
- Basic programming knowledge in C#, C++, and MATLAB.
- Experience with mathematical and simulation tools such as MATLAB®, Simulink®, or Mathcad.
- Exposure to commercial or academic power system analysis software is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Master's degree (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering accepted with strong academic performance.
Compensation
- 65,000.00 - 100,000 USD Annual
- This pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation that the position offers, and final compensation can vary within the range depending on work location, job experience, skills, and relevant educational attainment and/or training.
