Responsibilities
- Build and lead the Corporate Giving engineering organization, scaling from an early-stage team to a fully staffed, high-performing domain
- Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent across IC levels
- build management depth as the domain grows
- Coach engineers and leads on spec-driven development and AI-assisted delivery practices
- Contribute directly to technical work-architecture reviews, design decisions, and hands-on engagement with the codebase at a minimum of 25% of your time
- Own the technical direction for Corporate Giving: Deed, Bonterra Grants, the legacy disbursement platform, and the new standalone disbursement service
- Lead the migration from the legacy disbursement platform to the new standalone disbursement service, ensuring continuity for enterprise clients throughout
- Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent across IC levels; build management depth as the domain grows
- Coach engineers and leads on spec-driven development and AI-assisted delivery practices; hold the organization accountable for applying them consistently
- Maintain the technical depth needed to evaluate architectural decisions, set credible non-functional requirements, and earn the confidence of senior engineers
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership, with demonstrated experience at Director level or equivalent
- Experience owning or co-owning a product roadmap alongside product leadership
- Familiarity with TypeScript/Node.js and AWS serverless infrastructure
- Experience with compliance programs at scale (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, or equivalent)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with enterprise clients, senior leadership, and ICs
Nice to have
- Experience with employee giving, workplace giving, grant management, or disbursement processing
- Experience leading platform modernization - moving a production system forward while keeping it stable and compliant
- Background in mission-driven, nonprofit, or social impact technology

Compensation
- $140,000 - $190,000 DOE; 15% annual bonus
- Pay is determined by location, skills, experience, and education, and is one part of Bonterra's total rewards package, which may also include bonuses, incentives, equity, and a comprehensive benefits program.
- Compensation and benefits for this role apply to full-time employees in the United States and may vary based on local standards, laws and norms.
