Responsibilities

  • The Human Services Technician may work in DAS's In Home Support Services (IHSS) program or its Adult Protective Services (APS) program.
  • Obtains and delivers various items such as food and/or other household items as requested by the client as approved by the APS worker.
  • Reserves City vehicles from the car desk or other City authorized department. Only HST authorized to drive. Informs the car desk of any car malfunctions or maintenance issues.
  • Assists clients with completing documents related to the APS program that are connected to the client's service plan, as directed by the assigned Protective Services Worker.
  • Pick up and deliver documents related to the APS program that are connected to the client's service plan, as directed by the assigned Protective Services Worker.
  • Maintain confidentiality and case records related to client information.

Requirements

  • Some positions may require ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.

  • Ability to provide courteous customer service in-person and by telephone.

  • Under direction, the 2904 Human Services Technician performs a variety of duties to assist professionals in HSA's Department of Disability and Aging Services (DAS).
  • Assists Protective Services Worker by transporting clients to and from medical, legal, financial, social services appointments, other APS approved appointments, and/or stores both inside and outside of San Francisco.
  • Makes as needed or assigned home visits to observe, record, and report on client living conditions, ensuring client safety and wellbeing in their home.

  • Adult Protective Services Essential Duties
  • Observes and provides standby assistance for heavy cleaning or other services and provides directions to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Reports abuse, exploitation, neglect, and other threats per mandated-reporting requirements and Agency policies and procedures, when client abuse/neglect is witnessed and/or if the client reports abuse/neglect.
  • Cleans and disinfects items used prior to and after transporting or assist clients.
  • Assists with similar duties when assigned by the APS Supervisor to assist the DAS Public Guardian and Public Conservators programs.
  • In Home Supportive Services Essential Duties:
  • Reviews individual providers' timesheets as needed to resolve issues, reviews and upholds or overrides when timesheet violations occur, and answers related timesheet questions.
  • Promotes individual providers' use of the Electronic Service Portal and Telephonic Timesheet System - systems used to complete and submit their timesheets.
  • Trains providers on how to fill out their timesheet.
