About the role
- Brown & Brown is seeing a Farm & Ranch Underwriter to join our growing team in Greensboro, NC!
- As a Farm & Ranch Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, pricing, and managing a profitable portfolio of farm, ranch, and rural property risks.
Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned renewal book while maintaining profitability, retention, and growth objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail agents by providing responsive underwriting support and technical expertise.
- Collaborate with leadership on underwriting strategies, product enhancements, and portfolio management initiatives.
- Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and ensure compliance with company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and carrier standards.
- Monitor market trends, emerging agricultural risks, and industry developments to support sound underwriting decisions.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate has experience underwriting agricultural and rural property exposures, understands farm operations and associated liability risks, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Recruiting Vendors must have a valid written agreement and received prior written authorization from an authorized Brown & Brown representative before submitting candidates for any publicly posted role.
Nice to have
- 3+ years of commercial property/casualty underwriting experience, with Farm & Ranch or Agricultural underwriting experience strongly preferred.
Skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and underwriting experience.
- Strong knowledge of farm, ranch, agribusiness, rural property, and related liability exposures.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, negotiation, and risk assessment skills.
- Ability to interpret underwriting guidelines, policy forms, inspections, and loss information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and agency management or underwriting systems.
