About the role
- The office serves as a central hub for undergraduate academic policy and advising, overseeing functions such as academic standing and petitions while fostering strong collaboration between students and faculty.
Responsibilities
- The Senior Associate Dean leads a growing advising organization and collaborates across the university to enhance student success, strengthen advising practices, and support the undergraduate experience from matriculation through graduation.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of academic advising professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement while overseeing organizational growth, staff development, change management, and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee departmental budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning to support institutional priorities, student success goals, and the continued growth of advising and academic support services.
- Partner with faculty and academic leaders to strengthen advising systems, recruit and train advisors, and promote best practices in advising, mentoring, and student support.
- Collaborate across the university to improve academic policies, streamline processes, leverage data and technology, and enhance both the student and faculty experience.
- Through advising, academic support programs, and student success initiatives, the office promotes student retention, timely graduation, and persistence across disciplines, including STEM, within the School of Arts and Sciences and the College of Special Studies.
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
- Experience leading and managing professional staff in a complex academic environment
- Experience advising, mentoring, or supporting college students
- Experience managing departmental budgets and resources
- Required Skills & Competencies:
- Describe your approach to advancing undergraduate student success, including advising systems, policies, or initiatives you have led.
- Oversee core academic functions, including academic standing, degree auditing and certification, orientation, matriculation, and student academic petitions and appeals.
Nice to have
- Experience leading advising operations serving a large undergraduate student population
- Demonstrated success leading significant organizational change, restructuring, or strategic transformation initiatives
- Experience working with faculty governance bodies, curriculum committees, and academic policy development
- Teaching experience at the college level
- PhD or other earned doctorate
- Minimum $118,800.00, Midpoint $148,500.00, Maximum $178,200.00
- generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

Compensation
- Minimum $118,800.00, Midpoint $148,500.00, Maximum $178,200.00
- Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
