Responsibilities

  • Building cities.
  • In both the Allison Transmission and Allison Off-Highway Drive and Motion Systems business units, our team strives to Improve the Way the World Works.
  • Apply technical standards and methodologies to develop solutions to maintain current products opportunities to manage quality and cost using sound engineering principles.
  • Determine appropriate DVP&R elements to validate the product and execute to completion by initiating test requests, supporting data review and interpretation and a thorough review of test reports.
  • Work with suppliers, Purchasing, and Supplier Quality Engineers to support cost reduction, sourcing decisions and design changes.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the manufacturing and assembly impacts to design.
  • Improve or develop new transmission component and sub-system designs using sound engineering principles, GD&T and tolerance stacks.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to component loading, basic stress and fatigue life calculations for general component sizing.
  • Design new part concepts in CAD, review FEA results and make design judgements based on those results.
  • Direct and collaborate with specialized CAD designers to develop alternative design concepts.

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in CAD modeling
  • Experience in developing and executing DVP&Rs
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints, fluent in GD&T
  • Knowledge and understanding in material strength
  • Experience in transmission design and powertrain integration preferred
  • Experience in other common analysis software (e.g. AMESim, MATLAB/Simulink) preferred
  • Strong oral and written business communication skills
  • Strong organization and analytical ability
