About the role

  • Parkhurst Academy is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Elementary School Teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons across various subjects to elementary students.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that meets academic standards and addresses the needs of all learners.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help students succeed.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators to support student development.

  • You'll have the opportunity to develop close relationships with your students and help them overcome challenges.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of child development and effective instructional strategies.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
  • Feeling: Ability to perceive attributes of objects by touch.
  • Ability to hear and understand at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Ability to lift and move objects.
  • Ability to make rational decisions.
  • Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and concisely through speech.
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching certification for elementary education.
  • Previous experience teaching elementary students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of Parkhurst Academy.
  • Physical Demands:
  • The work is generally sedentary to light and may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
  • Dexterity: Primarily with fingers, as in picking, pinching, or typing.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure with the whole hand.
