About the role
- 5+ years owning end-to-end payroll, including hands-on experience running US and Canada payroll specifically
- Proven track record supporting global payroll across multiple countries and entities simultaneously
Responsibilities
- Right now that means bringing on someone who can own this function end-to-end, not just execute the cycles but build the infrastructure that scales with us.
- I'm looking for someone who takes that seriously, brings sharp attention to detail, and can improve how we operate over time, not just maintain the status quo.
- Teamworks is growing in headcount and geographic complexity, and the person in this role will build the payroll foundation that supports all of it.
- Build and maintain the controls, reconciliations, and documentation that keep payroll audit-ready and scalable as we add new countries and entities
- Partner with People and Finance to ensure clean inputs, accurate journal entries, and meaningful payroll reporting that supports budgeting and forecasting
Requirements
- Drive payroll compliance across all regions, including tax filings, required reporting, and year-end close (W-2s, T4s, and local equivalents)
- Deep knowledge of payroll principles and multi-jurisdictional tax and labor law (local, state, federal, and international)
- You have experience with payroll accounting, reconciliations, and payroll-related journal entries
Compensation
- This policy applies to all employment practices within our organization, including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, promotion, termination, compensation, benefits, and training.
Benefits
- Own the employee-facing side of payroll, triaging the inbox, resolving issues quickly, and managing benefits and retirement deductions (401(k), RRSP, and regional equivalents) with accuracy
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems, with experience administering retirement and benefits programs
