About the role

  • PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Austin, TX
  • Test newly implemented applications, identifying and documenting defects and potential risks to escalate with senior management with proposed solutions.
  • Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications.
  • Architect, design and implement new Application Programming Interfaces endpoints to support new software features for PayPal's distributed payments systems.
  • Build applications and optimized features for performance-sensitive systems that serve tens of millions of requests each day.
  • Program and code applications during the design and development phases, utilizing experience programming in Ruby, C++, and Java.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systems.
  • Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews.
  • Job Duties: Design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications.

Requirements

  • Experience with Java and at least one of the following programming languages: Ruby or C++ (2 years);
  • Experience with maintaining code equality using testing tools: TestNG and Postman (2 years);
  • Experience with writing technical design documentation using the following tools: miro, mermaid, or Confluence (1 year);
  • Experience with code management system: GitHub (3 years).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring.
  • Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field, plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

  • Experience with relational databases, NoSQL databases (2 years);
  • Experience with continuous deployment tools, including Jenkins (1 year);
  • Experience with applying AI/ML techniques in day-to-day development, including Github co-pilot (1 year);

Compensation

  • $139,152.00-221,500.00 per annum.
  • Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
