About the role

Responsibilities

  • Collect samples and perform laboratory and field testing of various construction materials, such as concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregates, etc., to determine material and quality.
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of construction sites, document findings and provide detailed reports on test results, including analysis and recommendations.
  • Maintain effective communication with project teams, providing regular updates on field activities and findings.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the project team to troubleshoot and resolve any materials-related issues.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Geotechnical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of relevant testing methods and procedures, including ASTM and CSA standards
  • Must have valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Other duties as required.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience in materials testing and inspection is preferred.

Compensation

  • $22.00 - $26.00 CAD hourly
  • In alignment with Ontario's Employment Standards Act and pay‑transparency requirements, GEMTEC includes the expected compensation range in publicly advertised job postings for roles based in Ontario.
  • Final compensation will be based on the successful candidate's education, experience, skills, internal pay equity, specific Ontario location, or other factors unrelated to Ontario‑protected grounds.
