About the role
- PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
- Isolate errors by trouble-shooting the application stack from application to framework to underlying infrastructure dependencies and network.
Responsibilities
- Job Duties: Build highly scalable applications to support PayPal's payment platforms, focusing on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Define, design, implement, test, release rollout, and support full-stack software applications for PayPal.
- Design and develop data-intensive applications and architect them for scalability and availability.
- Develop high-volume backend services, with low latency and design them for scale.
- Develop solutions for service monitoring, automated remediation, measuring availability and reliability, performance, analytics, and network.
- Work with other engineers and PMs across multiple teams to gather requirements, design, develop, test, launch, and maintain features.
- Drive integration efforts and lead critical work streams of strategic initiatives sponsored by senior executives.

Requirements
- Experience owning features across the full software development lifecycle using CI/CD and DevOps practices (4 years).
- Experience deploying, operating, and supporting production systems on public cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP (4 years).
- Experience designing and implementing event-driven processing for data-intensive production systems (3 years).
- Experience designing and implementing production-ready API protection and traffic management mechanisms, such as rate limiting or request throttling (3 years).
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, alerting, troubleshooting, and performance optimization for production systems (3 years).
- Experience designing and implementing automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing for production systems (3 years).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

- The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring.
- Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus four years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus six years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Compensation
- $187,741.00-270,500.00 per annum.
- Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
