About the role

  • Purpose Oversee all Tool Room activities supporting production & engineering.
  • Provide leadership and supervises the hourly tool room team.

Responsibilities

  • First line supervisor of tool room machining operation to include tool & die build & repair, precision grinding, preventative tool maintenance, etc.
  • Oversee the activities of the tool room to effectively support plant operations.

Requirements

  • Journeyman status as a Tool & Die Maker or bachelor's degree in engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Performance Management Advanced equipment troubleshooting skills Knowledge of ISO/IATF16949 requirements Organizational Skills Leadership
  • Ability to identify, select, train and coach team members.

  • Maintains documentation and records various data for the department as required.
  • Required Education & Experience
  • Journeyman status as a Tool & Die Maker or bachelor's degree in engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent. 8 plus years of experience in Tool & Die. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership role. Experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Competencies
  • Knowledge of Stamping, Assembly & Welding, Cutting, Forming, Grinding, Tool Sharpening, Milling, Tool Steel Composition, Hardness Testing, Blueprint Reading, Tool & Die Build/Repair and Tooling Selection. Problem Solving/Analysis Computer Proficiency Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel including customers & suppliers Knowledge of related safety requirements. Confidentiality
  • Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
  • Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting and on the plant floor.
  • Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
