About the role

  • This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys designing and improving automated manufacturing systems, solving complex technical challenges, and leading projects from concept through implementation.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLCs, HMI, and SCADA systems, including Wonderware.
  • Coordinate projects with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and automation solutions for manufacturing operations.
  • Lead electrical design activities for new equipment, process improvements, and capital projects.
  • Develop electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, and technical documentation using AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
  • Support maintenance and production teams by troubleshooting electrical and automation issues and implementing long-term corrective solutions.
  • Design and implement electrical modifications that improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Develop project scopes, technical specifications, equipment layouts, and cost estimates.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, calculations, reports, and project records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) systems.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with Wonderware or similar HMI/SCADA platforms.
  • Experience with process automation and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in foam manufacturing, foam fabrication, or other continuous manufacturing environments is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or comparable electrical design software.
  • Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and industrial standards.
  • Experience with emergency power systems, lighting, or fire alarm systems is considered an asset.
