About the role
- When scheduled to work as a cook, they are responsible for cooking and maintaining a safe and clean environment that meets safe food handling regulations in a trauma informed cultural way by following outlined menu plans.
Responsibilities
- Leads and models expected behaviors as outlines in the Policies and Procedures of Beendigen.
- Always maintain professionalism.
- Adherence to the Code of Ethics and positive relationship building.
Requirements
- Experience working in an Indigenous organization.
- Ability to speak Ojibway, Oji-Cree or Cree.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices
- Knowledge of Indigenous Food Preparation/Practices and Recipes
- Ability to meet safety and sanitation practices
- Knowledge of a variety of cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment
- Ability to adhere to the site safety policies, confidentiality and dress code
- Successful completion of a high school diploma or GED.
- Minium three (3) months Janitor/Cleaner work experience.
- A combination of education, training and other related experience in the area of Safe Food Handling.

- Initiative and good judgement
Compensation
- The Cook/Cleaner is responsible for performing building cleaning and other duties to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner when scheduled to work at a Cleaner.
