About the role

  • When scheduled to work as a cook, they are responsible for cooking and maintaining a safe and clean environment that meets safe food handling regulations in a trauma informed cultural way by following outlined menu plans.

  • Always maintain professionalism.
  • Adherence to the Code of Ethics and positive relationship building.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an Indigenous organization.
  • Ability to speak Ojibway, Oji-Cree or Cree.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Food Preparation/Practices and Recipes
  • Ability to meet safety and sanitation practices
  • Knowledge of a variety of cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment
  • Ability to adhere to the site safety policies, confidentiality and dress code
  • Successful completion of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minium three (3) months Janitor/Cleaner work experience.
  • A combination of education, training and other related experience in the area of Safe Food Handling.

Compensation

  • The Cook/Cleaner is responsible for performing building cleaning and other duties to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner when scheduled to work at a Cleaner.
