About the role

- Asses path viability and makes recommendations based on existing infrastructure in the field.
- Gather field information and measurements necessary for engineering.
Responsibilities
- Review complex fiber designs for real-world application.
- Accurately document and coordinate findings and changes for revisions with design engineer.
- Develop process improvements and refine standard protocols for efficiency.
- Perform work to state, local, NESC, NEC and company safety standards.
- Douglas Fast Net (DFN) delivers high-speed fiber internet to homes and businesses across Lane, Douglas, and Coos counties.
- This position plays a critical role in ensuring fiber designs are practical, constructible, and ready for deployment by conducting field evaluations, coordinating engineering efforts, and providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in field engineering, surveying, telecommunications, utilities, or a related field.
- Experience with Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) architecture within an Outside Plant (OSP) environment.
- Valid Oregon notary commission or ability to obtain within 1 month of employment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess field conditions and make sound recommendations.
- Ability to learn industry-specific software and technology platforms.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, with reasonable accommodations if needed.
Nice to have
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- an Associate degree or certificate in surveying is preferred.
