About the role

This position may supervise or oversee the work of administrative and/or accounting staff.
The MCSO Finance Division recognizes the importance of an effective work/life balance in order to achieve optimal results and retain high-performing employees.
Therefore, after successful completion of onboarding and training, the incumbent in this position will be provided with the opportunity to work an alternative schedule and/or telecommute.

Maintains ledgers, registers, records of initial entry, and control accounts.
Supports the daily activities of the department, including various aspects of internal and external reporting as well as general accounting functions.
Audits financial records, contracts, documents, and business processes.
Responds to requests for information; reviews, investigates, and corrects errors in documents and reports; provides technical information to staff as authorized.
Participates in financial audits and compliance reviews; assist with document compilation.

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire.

Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.
Experience with governmental and/or fund accounting concepts and government budgeting.
Experience working in a high-volume general ledger environment.
