About the role
- Contribute new functionality, performance improvements, and bug fixes to OpenSearch and associated plugins.
- Participate in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and reliability initiatives for large-scale distributed systems.
- Work with containerized environments and modern deployment platforms.
Responsibilities
- Software Engineering & Platform Development Design, develop, and enhance OpenSearch-based solutions and supporting platform services.
- Build and maintain internal control plane services that manage OpenSearch infrastructure at scale.
- Develop scalable, reliable, and maintainable software using Java, Kotlin, or Golang.
- Participate in architecture discussions and drive technical improvements across the platform.
- Site Reliability & Operations Collaborate with DevOps and operations teams to investigate and resolve production incidents.
- Analyze system behavior, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to improve platform stability and efficiency.
- Support highly available and mission-critical search infrastructure environments.
- Drive best practices for search engine design, performance optimization, and scalability.
- Support adoption and operational excellence for OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, and related search technologies.
- DevOps & Automation Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes.
Requirements
- Professional experience in software engineering, site reliability engineering, distributed systems, or search platform development.
- Experience analyzing performance issues and implementing scalability improvements.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices including: CI/CD pipelines Containerization and orchestration platforms Version control systems Monitoring and observability tools
- Search Platform Expertise Serve as a technical expert for OpenSearch and search-related technologies.
- OpenSearch Elasticsearch Apache Solr Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, operating system internals, and system-level troubleshooting.
