About the role

  • Could you be our next Staff Tax Accountant?
  • Globe Life is looking for a Staff Tax Accountant to join the team!
  • This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, Texas (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

Responsibilities

  • Lead research and analysis of complex federal and state tax issues, evaluating diverse factors and devising solutions based on limited information and precedent.
  • Develop, analyze, and document sophisticated tax planning strategies and compliance solutions, adapting existing approaches to resolve issues in creative ways.
  • Manage and resolve issues raised during Internal Revenue Service examinations and various state examinations with wide latitude for independent judgment.
  • Build and enhance. relationships with senior internal and external partners, adapting communication style to differing audiences.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives requiring sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to persuade and advise senior partners on complex matters.
  • Exceptional ability to manage multiple complex responsibilities and competing priorities.

Requirements

  • Ability to work full time and/or part time based on the position specifications.
  • What You Can Bring:
  • Advanced Excel and tax software proficiency.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Tax.
  • Master's degree in Accounting/Tax strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive federal and state tax compliance/consulting experience in public accounting or tax department of a publicly traded company with a Bachelor's degree
  • OR Minimum 3 years of experience with Master's degree.
  • CPA designation required (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Demonstrated experience working independently on complex tax matters with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record of leading tax projects and advising senior stakeholders.
  • Complete knowledge and full understanding of US GAAP (ASC 740), US corporate tax compliance, and consolidated returns.
