About the role

  • The Medical Director, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is a dual-role physician leader who delivers high-quality clinical care at Compass's Northbrook location while providing psychiatric excellence, clinical strategy, and team development across the Illinois U18 system.
  • This role ensures that our youngest and most vulnerable patients receive evidence-based, developmentally appropriate care, that the providers who serve them are mentored and supported, and that Compass is recognized as the leading destination for child and adolescent psychiatric care in the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and clinical orientation of new U18 providers with site leadership and talent acquisition.
  • Partner with the VP of CPG on psychiatry budget oversight for assigned sites.
  • Serve as Compass's clinical voice for child and adolescent programs, building referral pathways and brand visibility.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with outpatient providers across Chicagoland.
  • Partner with marketing and business development to translate community relationships into measurable referral growth.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams and document all patient contact in the clinical record.

Requirements

  • Experience with CBT, DBT, and ACT therapy modalities.

Nice to have

  • 6+ years post-residency or fellowship experience

  • Provide clinical leadership and strategic direction for U18 services in partnership with the IL Regional Medical Director and site leadership.
  • Partner with site leadership on provider productivity monitoring and support, capacity and cross coverage management, action plans, complex case consultation, grievances, coverage, and site-specific challenges.
  • Liaise with local and state agencies (DCFS, Department of Public Health, law enforcement), hospital systems, laboratories, and Risk Management.
