About the role

  • Officers assigned to this position will provide a visible law enforcement presence at City Hall, City Council meetings, and other City public meetings, while assisting with investigative, operational, and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety and security at City facilities and public meetings by monitoring activities, responding to disturbances, and addressing public safety concerns.
  • Support special operations, community engagement initiatives, crime prevention efforts, and departmental projects.
  • Assist with security planning and operational support for public meetings, special events, and City functions.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with patrol personnel, investigators, City departments, emergency services, and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Maintain an Active Role in Law Enforcement
  • Support Community Safety and Public Trust
  • Maintain assigned equipment and comply with all departmental policies, procedures, and training requirements.

Requirements

  • Complete accurate reports, incident documentation, and other required records in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
  • Must be able to meet all City and Police Department employment requirements.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with elected officials, City staff, and members of the public.
  • Strong observation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Work is performed primarily at City Hall, public meeting facilities, and other City locations, with occasional outdoor assignments.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear a police uniform, duty belt, issued equipment, and a bulletproof vest.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other hours associated with public meetings and special events.
  • May be required to work immediately before, during or immediately after an emergency or disaster.
  • May be required to respond to emergencies or critical incidents within the scope of assignment.
