About the role
- Weekly hours may fluctuate depending on business needs.
- We're looking for an In-House Legal Counsel II to join our growing team!
- Handle insurance defence files of varying complexities independently from beginning to conclusion.
Responsibilities
- Draft opinions, pleadings, affidavits and other legal documents to support motion applications, mediation briefs and pre-trial memoranda.
- Maintain productive and effective communications with the claims department and adjusters.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective client relationships.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required.
- Preferably 5-10 years of experience
- Superior organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple case files simultaneously and independently.
- Preferably 5-10 years of experience; however, open to consider applicants at all levels
- Currently a member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
Skills
- Utilize AI Tools in accordance with departmental goals / targets for usage and adoption.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with research and negotiating experience.
Compensation
- Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

- Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc.
- The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles.
- 128,300 - 156,800
- Possibility to purchase up to 5 extra days off per year
