About the role

  • Work is performed under the supervision of the Head of School.
  • Essential functions of the job may include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Maintain IEP paperwork for a caseload of students.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Our schools are supported by a non-profit partner to provide holistic services to the school, including out-of-school time, our social work project, and Head Start.
  • We do it by ensuring our students have access to complete support both in and out of the classroom through a talented team of teachers, leaders, social workers, and partners.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution;
  • 2-3 years of special education classroom experience, preferably in urban education;
  • Valid and active Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate;
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34)
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114)
  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168)

  • A knack for connecting with people across differences, including parents, colleagues, and students.
  • Conduct Push-in and Pull-out services for students with special needs, autism, in math, reading, writing, and social skills.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
