About the role

  • Summary The Diamond/Core Driller is responsible for safely and efficiently operating diamond drilling equipment to recover high-quality core samples for mineral exploration and geological evaluation.
  • This role requires precision drilling, strong mechanical skills, and strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards, often in remote or challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-start inspections and ongoing checks of drill rigs, rods, core barrels, pumps, and support equipment
  • Monitor drilling parameters including rotation speed, bit pressure, water flow, and penetration rates to optimize core recovery and equipment performance
  • Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor mechanical repairs to minimize downtime
  • Maintain accurate drilling records, including meterage, core recovery, consumables usage, and daily reports
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards at the drill site

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Diamond/Core Driller in mineral exploration or mining environments
  • Strong understanding of diamond drilling techniques, core recovery methods, and basic geology
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Ability to work long shifts in remote or FIFO environments
  • Physically fit and capable of working in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license (appropriate class)
