About the role

- Through consultation, teaching, and outreach, the Department promotes and sustains excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship at all levels of the University.
Responsibilities
- Leads assessment for areas of oversight and recommends departmental policies and procedures. Collects and analyzes user and other data; prepares reports for library leadership and other stakeholders.
- Facilitates training for new librarians, most intensely during their first semester of work, with ongoing support through the tenure-track period.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- The Research and Teaching Services department supports the curricular and research needs of the university through teaching, research consultations, workshops, and reference services.
- The libraries are committed to providing the best support system for student success and making scholarship more inclusive, accessible, and affordable.
- The libraries provide information resources, teaching, and instruction to enhance the teaching, research, cultural, and outreach services of the University by developing collections to support teaching and research to the doctoral level, by providing services utilizing the latest information technology, and by maintaining an accessible and efficient facility.
- The libraries provide diverse print and electronic resources to support students, staff, faculty, visiting scholars, community members and alumni.

Requirements
- Master's Degree in Library Science (or equivalent degree) from an ALA-accredited library school.
- A minimum of five years of significant professional library experience (post M.L.S or equivalent degree) with responsibility in areas related to public services including reference, teaching and outreach.
- Experience in an academic or research library.
- Experience leading collegial and productive teams.
- Second Master's degree in an academic discipline.
- Experience providing liaison services (including collection development).
- Familiarity with Springshare products.
- A strong record of effective teaching and instructional design.
- Familiarity with the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, critical pedagogy, and/or current information literacy teaching principles and practices.
- Demonstrated leadership supporting employee professional development.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills with the ability to foster positive working relationships and build partnerships.
- A record of professional service and scholarly activity.
- Strong cultural awareness and demonstrated commitment to supporting learning for all students.
Compensation

- Salary offers for internal employees who are part of a collective bargaining unit (CBU) and are applying to a position that is within a CBU will be determined in accordance with contractual provisions.
