About the role

  • As a Field Application Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring our robots are successfully deployed, maintained, and supported throughout their lifecycle.
  • This is a highly hands-on position that combines customer-facing field work with in-house technical operations.
  • You'll work closely with R&D, and Sales teams, serving as the bridge between our customers and our product.

Responsibilities

  • Travel throughout the U.S. and internationally to support deployments, training, and customer success.
  • Prepare, inspect, calibrate, and validate robots before shipment and customer deployment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and quality checks on Civ's internal robot fleet.
  • Support engineering with product testing, validation, prototype evaluation, and new feature verification.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, repair records, and service documentation.
  • Document customer issues, troubleshooting procedures, and field learnings to improve internal knowledge and training materials.

  • Experience working directly with customers in technical support, deployment, training, or field service environments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in robotics, field applications, technical support, hardware support, autonomous systems, drones, mechatronics, or similar hands-on technical roles.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, electronics, wiring, sensors, batteries, motors, mechanical assemblies, and system troubleshooting.
  • Experience assembling, repairing, maintaining, or testing complex technical equipment.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, firmware updates, software logs, or basic debugging.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users.
  • What We're Looking For 3+ years of experience in robotics, field applications, technical support, hardware support, autonomous systems, drones, mechatronics, or similar hands-on technical roles.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ROS, Linux, Git, or scripting is a plus.
  • Experience with GNSS/GPS, construction technology, surveying, autonomous vehicles, or drones is a plus.
