About the role
- It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws.
- Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission.

- The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina.

Skills
- Documented knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs.

Compensation
- $ 31,200 - $ 51,249
- State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.
- If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
- Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

- This position maintains inmate records to ensure correct distribution and disposition as well as confidentiality, safety and accuracy.
- Will prepare correspondence as well as maintain and compile daily administrative statistics as related to inmate records.
- Submits monthly reports as required.
- Develops and maintains tracking system of inmate records.
- Periodically reviews inmate records to monitor compliance with DOP regulations.

- Will have frequent public and staff contact.
- Equipment used will consist of computers, fax, copy machine, calculator.
- Work is expected to be professional.
- Communication should be clear and easily understood.
- Additional duties include additional sentences and writs.
- Will work under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Programs assigned to oversee the coordination of inmate transfers and to assist in these duties as needed.
