About the role
- The Director of Preconstruction is responsible for the end-to-end pursuit process: from initial opportunity assessment and go/no-go decision through to coordinated submission and construction handoff.
- The mandate is to bring a single pursuit strategy, clear deliverable ownership, and integrated execution to every significant bid we undertake.
- This is a cross-business-unit role with visibility across the full Broccolini portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead go/no-go decisions for all projects and major opportunities, applying structured evaluation criteria and validating organizational capacity.
- Develop the pursuit strategy for each bid: risk profile, key assumptions, and discipline assignments
- Coordinate discipline leads - estimating, scheduling, legal, HSE, proposals - toward a single integrated submission
- Manage the engagement of external consultants and internal subject matter experts throughout preconstruction
- Own deliverable governance: maintain the master plan, track commitments, identify gaps, and escalate early
- Own and continuously improve the preconstruction process: templates, rhythms, checklists, and handoff protocols
- Maintain a consolidated view of all active pursuits and report status to senior leadership regularly
Requirements
- 10+ years in construction or integrated real estate development, with significant preconstruction exposure
- Experience presenting recommendations and leading discussions at the senior leadership level
- The Director will work directly with senior leadership and will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, influence without authority, and accountability for outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary pursuit processes from opportunity through submission
- Background across more than one sector is an asset
- Strategic thinker who can develop a winning pursuit approach, not just manage a process
- Strong cross-functional leadership - able to align and hold peers accountable without direct authority
- Highly organized with a track record of building governance systems and making them stick
- Clear, direct communicator in both French and English (bilingualism strongly preferred)
- Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment
