About the role

  • The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000 and up to $184,000.
  • The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Chime's Instant Loans team builds products that give members upfront liquidity for larger, specific needs, with clear, predictable repayment that helps them build credit responsibly.
  • This role is ideal for engineers who want to move quickly, collaborate closely with product, design, data, and risk, and care deeply about expanding financial access and stability for millions of members.
  • Design, develop, test, refactor and scale backend implementations of new and existing consumer product features
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand member pain points and come up with solutions
  • Develop thoroughly tested code and conduct quality assurance on all new code alongside our QA team

Requirements

  • Engineers are required to participate in on-call rotation.
  • Proven experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, product-focused environment (Fintech experience is a plus)

Skills

  • Comfort working across the stack and an eagerness to learn new technologies
  • Experience designing APIs, working with transactional databases and caching systems
  • A collaborative spirit and strong communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally

Compensation

  • The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000 and up to $184,000.
  • The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
