About the role
- Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Capital Management & Technical Services, the Vice President, Technical Operations is responsible for leading the Building Operations Center (BOC) and centralized technical operations across the domestic portfolio.
- The role serves as the enterprise subject matter expert (SME) on the performance and optimization of building systems, spanning mechanical controls, energy metering, lighting controls, security, fire and life safety - among others - and the broader technology stack that QuadReal have implemented to run our buildings.
- The successful candidate is accountable for leveraging the systems and technologies deployed across the portfolio to deliver measurable operational outcomes - reducing energy consumption, extending equipment lifecycle, optimizing the deployment of field labor, and improving the experience of building occupants through consistently well-tuned environments.
Responsibilities
- Promote, Leverage and Operationalization of the IBMP (Integrated Building Management Platform) and BOC, including ongoing expansion of scope across asset classes
- Serve as the enterprise lead on day-to-day technical operations across the built environment
- Oversee 24/7 BOC operations monitoring HVAC and mechanical controls, electrical systems, energy metering, electronic security, fire and life safety, and other key building systems
- Drive the transition from reactive to predictive and condition-based maintenance practices through fault detection, diagnostics, and predictive analytics
- Leverage operational data, analytics, and AI to drive building performance, surface efficiency opportunities, and report on KPIs across the portfolio
- Strengthen reliability-centered maintenance practices and incident response, and support business continuity through enhanced system visibility and control
- Partner with Operations, Digital Buildings, IT, Sustainability, and other enterprise functions to align centralized technical operations with broader business priorities
- Establish and maintain the KPI and reporting framework that validates and communicates BOC-driven value to senior leadership
- Support equipment lifecycle and capital planning using real-time operational data and insights from the BOC
- Develop business cases supporting BOC expansion, capability investments, and operating model enhancements
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in technical building operations, building controls, or centralized operations environments, including extended time in leadership roles
- Deep, hands-on expertise in mechanical controls and HVAC operations
- Demonstrated experience operating BMS, CMMS, FDD, and analytics platforms in a production environment
- Proficiency applying AI, analytics, and operational data to drive measurable performance improvements in a building operations context
- Proven experience leading or materially advancing a centralized operations capability (BOC, NOC, or equivalent) with measurable outcomes
- Strong ability to translate technical performance into financial results and communicate those results to executive stakeholders
- Engineering background strongly preferred (Mechanical or Electrical); relevant trade qualifications and controls certifications also considered
- Broad fluency across the full building systems stack, including electrical systems, lighting controls, energy metering, elevators, access control, CCTV, fire and life safety, and other technology-based building systems
- Credible in the detail with field technicians and controls specialists, and effective at setting portfolio-wide strategy with senior leadership
- Strong commercial judgment in capital planning, vendor management, and operational budgeting
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Compensation
- The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $190,000 – $230,000.
