About the role
- The Chemotherapy Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and expert nursing care to patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologics, and supportive infusion treatments.
- This role requires specialized oncology knowledge, strong critical-thinking skills, and strict adherence to evidence-based chemotherapy safety standards.
- Supervision received: General supervision by the Director of Clinical Services.
Responsibilities
- Access, de-access, and manage central lines and peripheral IVs.
- Manage infusion-related complications promptly using clinical judgment and emergency protocols.
- Patient Assessment and Support
- Assist with scheduling and patient flow to maintain an efficient and patient-centered infusion environment.
- Maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff by adhering to infection control and hazardous waste disposal guidelines.
Requirements
- Special requirements or skills required
- Ability to communicate well with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Good phlebotomy, venous access, organizational and time management skills required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Current RN license by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or a Compact RN license until residency is established and a Texas license can be obtained. Preferred 1-3 years of oncology infusion or ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification
- Ability to communicate well with physicians, staff, and patients. Good phlebotomy, venous access, organizational and time management skills required. Basic computer skills required.
