About the role

  • Amplitude's Corporate Accounting team is at the center of ensuring accurate, scalable, and insight-driven financial operations as we continue to grow.
  • We're looking for a player-coach Accounting Manager to join our San Francisco-based controllership team-someone who can balance hands-on execution with driving smarter, faster processes.
  • This role will play a key part in modernizing our close, including embedding AI into core accounting workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen and scale accounting policies, processes, and internal controls to support a public company environment, ensuring compliance while building a foundation that can keep up with company growth
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and AP to drive a seamless close process, proactively resolve issues, and ensure financial data aligns with broader business objectives
  • Lead audit readiness and execution end-to-end, managing external auditors, owning the PBC process, and ensuring deliverables are organized, timely, and audit-ready (not the night-before scramble kind)
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate and accelerate accounting workflows-including embedding AI into routine processes-to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and increase overall data reliability
  • We take the initiative to solve problems that drive our shared company success.
  • We've made significant investments in talent and infrastructure to build the most powerful AI analytics platform on the market.

Nice to have

  • You bring 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry experience (ideally in SaaS or tech)
  • You have a strong foundation in US GAAP and can apply it practically in a fast-paced environment
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA is a plus)
  • You have experience owning close processes and working with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • You're comfortable working in a SOX-compliant environment and understand the importance of strong internal controls

Compensation

  • $145,000 - $217,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)
  • Own and run the full close cycle across the general ledger-including journal entries, consolidations, intercompany, reconciliations, and flux analysis-while continuously improving the speed, accuracy, and predictability of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting

Benefits

  • We offer mentorship programs, management training, and wellness initiatives.
  • We give every Ampliteer a charitable giving grant and paid volunteer time off.
  • We're a global and fast-growing team!

Company info

  • You've helped build or transform accounting processes in a high-growth or evolving environment-we value people who make things better, not just maintain them
  • You're naturally curious about how AI and automation can improve accounting workflows, and you're excited to experiment and implement
  • You operate with a high level of ownership and accountability, and we can rely on you to drive outcomes without constant direction
  • You're a strong communicator who can break down complex accounting concepts and build trust across teams
  • You enjoy mentoring others and raising the bar for the team around you
  • Excellent Medical, Dental and Vision insurance coverages, with 100% employer-paid premiums for employee Medical, Dental, Vision on select plans
  • Flexible time off, p aid holidays, and more
  • Generous stipends to spend on what matters most to you, whether that's wellness (monthly), commuter transit/parking (monthly), learning and development (quarterly), home office equipment (annual), and much more
