Responsibilities
- Develop and design permanent signage plans for the Hamilton LRT corridor, including regulatory, warning, guide, parking, loading, and multimodal wayfinding signage.
- Prepare comprehensive sign placement plans, sign schedules, and supporting design documentation in accordance with project requirements.
- Integrate signage designs with roadway geometry, intersections, transit stops, pedestrian crossings, cycling facilities, and other active transportation infrastructure.
- Coordinate with roadway, traffic, transit, and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure signage is effectively incorporated into corridor-wide designs.
- Evaluate signage requirements to support safe, efficient, and user-friendly navigation for motorists, transit users, pedestrians, and cyclists.
- Ensure all signage deliverables comply with design standards, contract requirements, and project specifications.
- Participate in design reviews, stakeholder consultations, and coordination meetings to resolve signage-related issues and maintain project consistency.
- Support project planning, design development, and implementation activities through all project phases.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and revisions to signage plans and schedules.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM), municipal signage standards, and roadway design principles.
Requirements
- 5-10+ years of experience in traffic engineering, transportation engineering, or roadway infrastructure design.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency with CAD-based design software and transportation design workflows.
- Experience with multimodal wayfinding systems and integrated transportation planning projects.
